Experiencia de clase

This interactive class in intended to help the students expand on the vocabulary they learned in ASL Camp and begin to use that vocabulary in sentence format using basic ASL grammar principles. The class will meet twice a week for 45 minutes each time in order to give plenty of time for students to practice what they are learning using engaging games and projects. It is the primary goal of this class to help students move from just signing words to signing concepts. Emphasis will be placed on accuracy and ability to communicate their thoughts to classmates using the ASL vocabulary and skills they are learning. Expressive and receptive skills will be developed through the activities in our text, Learn to Sign the Fun Way by Penny Warner. ISBN: 0761532633

I began learning ASL in college where I majored in Deaf Education. Upon graduation, I began teaching in a self-contained classroom with 8 deaf preschoolers. Through the years I have been an interpreter in church, medical, social and 1-1 settings. I have the desire to help young people learn ASL to help encourage the inclusion of Deaf neighbors and friends in activities in their community.
