What Will Be Taught? -Students will learn the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL), including basic vocabulary, sentence structure, and cultural insights. -Key areas include greetings, family, colors, animals, daily activities, and emotions. ***This class should take no longer than 8 weeks to complete.*** How is the Class Structured? -Weekly Modules: Each week, a new module will be released, focusing on a specific topic. -Lessons and Activities: Each module includes several lessons with videos, interactive games, and quizzes. -Self-Paced: Students can complete the lessons and activities at their own pace within the week. How Will You Teach? -Video Lessons: Engaging videos demonstrate signs and explaining their use. -Interactive Slides: Slideshows with embedded videos and activities to reinforce learning. -Games and Quizzes: Fun, interactive games a,nd quizzes to practice new vocabulary and concepts. -Storytelling: Stories and scenarios where students can apply what they've learned in a fun and meaningful context. What's Your Teaching Style? -Engaging and Fun: Lessons are designed to be fun and interactive, keeping kids engaged and excited to learn. -Visual and Hands-On: Heavy use of visual aids, videos, and interactive activities to cater to different learning styles. -Supportive and Encouraging: Positive reinforcement and encouragement throughout the course to build confidence. How Much Will Learners Get to Interact with Me? -Video Clips: Each lesson includes video clips where I demonstrate signs and concepts. -Interactive Activities: Games and quizzes with feedback to reinforce learning. - plan to communicate and offer feedback weekly, or more frequently if needed. -Email Support: Direct email access for students and parents to ask questions or seek additional help, which I should respond to in 24-48 hours or less. -Virtual Office Hours: Scheduled times for live Q&A sessions via video chat for personalized support and interaction.

Students will learn over 100 basic ASL signs, including the alphabet, numbers, greetings, family members, colors, shapes, animals, daily activities, and emotions.

-Basic handshapes and finger spelling of the alphabet.

-Common greetings and introductions.
-How to ask and answer simple questions (What's your name? How are you?).
-Signing numbers 1-10.

-Signs for family members (mom, dad, brother, sister, etc.).
-Signs for friends and people in our lives (teacher, friend, etc.).

The beauty of ASL is that various learners can engage and learn. Whether a student is a typical learner or has Dyslexia, ASD, or ADHD, this class will welcome them. All lessons will be visual and engaging to promote participation.
Orientación para padres
There will be no scary or inappropriate media content. All content would be suitable for small children and rated "G".
Requisitos previos
There are no specific rprerequisite equirements for learners to participate in this class. This level is meant for novice (or beginner) students eager to learn ASL.

I am a certified deaf/hard of hearing educator. I have served as an ASL interpreter, teacher of the deaf, and teacher of ASL as a world language. I have over 15 years of education experience and multiple degrees that help diversify my teaching platform (B.A. in Psychology, M.Ed. in Special Education, M.Ed. in Dyslexia Therapy, Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, and I am all but dissertation for my doctorate in Educational Leadership.
