The learning environment is very dynamic, and students will leave each section feeling confident in what to expect. The format is discussion based and very collaborative by using online whiteboards, as well as screen sharing AP writing rubrics and examples. Week 1Lesson 1AP Studying Strategies & Multiple Choice QuestionsStudents will see a scope of what content and time periods the AP test will cover. Students will learn strategies and view resources that can help them throughout the year. Students will be preview multiple choice question expectations. Students will be shown sources and walk through strategies for source analysis. Students will be shown paragraph sources. Students will review test taking strategies for multiple choice questions.Lesson 2AP Source AnalysisStudents will review multiple choice question expectations. Students will compare sources between paragraph written sources and images. Students will view various types of sources, ranging from images, political cartoons and graphs. Students will discuss strategies for analyzing sources. Students will practice ways to answer AP questions regarding sources, as well as how they will later be seen in DBQ's.Lesson 3Short Answer Writing OverviewStudents will preview SAQ's and will be taught the ACE response strategy and practice the strategy. Students will be taught ways to approach short answer questions as well as source comparison prompts.Lesson 4Long Essay OverviewStudents will preview expectations for long essay questions by reviewing the rubric used by AP graders. Students will learn what is needed in the essay and practice the strategy of scoring as many points as possible.Lesson 5Document Based Question Overview & Exam RecapStudents will preview expectations for document based questions by reviewing the rubric used by AP graders. Students will discuss the steps of answering DBQ questions, with source analysis and writing planning. Students will learn what is needed in the DBQ essay and practice strategies of scoring as many points as possible. Students will recap on expectations on the exam, as well as ways to set themselves up for success in the fall!
