In this ongoing class, young sewists and Anne enthusiasts gather to work on their hand-sewing projects, whether it's quilting, mending, cross-stitch, or other Victorian-era hand-sewing. Bring your favorite project (knitting and crochet welcome too!) and join a warm, relaxed environment to collaborate, share, and showcase your work. Each session begins with greetings, check-ins, and an opportunity to show-and-tell projects and Anne related things, followed by student-led discussions or readings from LM Montgomery's works. No experience or special tools required - just a love for sewing and all things "Anne"! Grab your handwork and a cup of tea and let’s sew and chat in our virtual circle! “I do NOT like patchwork,” said Anne dolefully, hunting out her workbasket and sitting down before a little heap of red and white diamonds with a sigh. “I think some kinds of sewing would be nice; but there’s no scope for imagination in patchwork. It’s just one little seam after another and you never seem to be getting anywhere. But of course I’d rather be Anne of Green Gables sewing patchwork than Anne of any other place with nothing to do but play.” - LM Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I've been sewing historic garment reproductions and costuming for over 30 years. I've worked in several living history museums, for over more than 18 years, creating my all my own professional costuming for various time periods in history... as well as researching and writing staff costuming standards guides for two museums and drafting patterns from photographs and historic garments in the collection. I currently consult and demonstrate as a domestic and textile historian for Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center. I'm also a long time fan of the works of LM Montgomery, feeling a deep kinship with many of her characters.
