- An introduction to the story of Anne Frank, including, the family's move to Amsterdam, and their choice to hide in the Secret Annex during the Second World War. - An in-depth look at who Anne Frank was as a child. - Examining the purpose of Anne's diary.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
The Frank Family
- An in-depth look at Anne's family members in the Secret Annex: Otto, Edith, and Margot.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
The van Pels Family
- An in-depth look at the van Pels family members in the Secret Annex: Hermann, Auguste, and Peter.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
The Helpers
- An in-depth look at those who risked their lives to help those hiding in the Secret Annex including, the Gies, the Voskuijl, Victor Kugler, and Johannes Kleiman
 Week 5
Lesson 5
The End
- A look at the journey of the Secret Annex residents after the authorities discovered their secret hiding place. - Understanding the impact of Anne's story and an overview of life in the Secret Annex.
  • Students will learn about the daily struggles of Jewish people living during the Holocaust.
  • Students will learn about the personal stories of those who played a role in Anne Frank's diary.
  • Students will critically think through the importance of her story and experience.
I am a certified teacher with qualifications to teach intermediate and senior students. I have an undergraduate degree in history and I have studied the topic of the Holocaust extensively. I have taken courses that are focused on the Holocaust which has provided me with a thorough understanding of the events, people, and impacts that occurred as a result of the Holocaust.  I am willing to answer any questions prior to the class about what students can expect if they are concerned about the sensitivity of the topic.

This course deals with the topic of the Holocaust and the events of World War Two. Although no graphic information, images, or videos will be shown in this class, students should be aware that we will be discussing how the story ends for those in the Secret Annex.
