Experiencia de clase

Students:
Ever wonder what you might read in the diary of an ACNH villager? Now is your time to tell their stories!

Parents:
Each class begins with a discussion question about Animal Crossing adventures or regular everyday life. After the class introduction, students spin a wheel that contains the names of the villagers who live on their island. The villager that the wheel lands on is the villager that they will interact with during class. Students then write about the interaction from the villager's perspective (diary-style) on our shared class blog located on Google Sites. Once students finish writing, they read their diary entries to the class. Students may also share their ideas and writing inspiration at this time. The last 7-10 minutes of class time are reserved for students to trade DIY recipes, furniture, designer codes, etc., and add to the class wish list! Every class meeting follows the routine above.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will improve their ability to write from various perspectives. There is no set end date as every class meeting follows the same routine.

Welcome!
My classes focus on promoting literacy and online literacy through book clubs, blogging, and online grammar games.

Before becoming a 6th Grade English teacher, I worked as an instructional aide in a film production class for two and a half years and as a substitute teacher for one year. Due to health concerns brought about by the pandemic, I left my teaching position. Still, I love to learn, and I believe that is the key to overcoming any academic obstacle--a willingness to learn and adapt. I am no stranger to remote learning/teaching. Since 2018, I have worked as an independent contractor with VIPKid--teaching English to children in China. This experience has taught me to modify various educational strategies to fit learner needs in physical and virtual classrooms. It has also allowed me to move fluidly from one teaching platform to another. I am very excited to meet my Outschool students, and I look forward to forming a cohesive team of online learners who, even from a distance, are dedicated to building each other up. Let’s do this!

Fun fact about me:
I love comedy, creating and editing short videos, and coffee shop hopping. What is something that is interesting/special about you? Share your responses with me in class.
