Parents, Does your child love to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Do they dedicate hours upon hours selling items at Nook's Cranny to make a few extra bells? Animal Crossing: Scavenger Bingo is a fun way for young players to make friends, find and trade items, and earn bells! Students, Head over to Teacher Abby's island and collect items by digging through the teacher-approved areas. Once you have filled your pockets, create your own bingo card on Google Slides. Then, get ready for three rounds of Animal Crossing: Scavenger Bingo! First place takes home 1,000,000 bells. Second place takes 500,000 bells, and third place takes 250,000 bells. To guarantee that no one goes home empty-handed, you may keep any items you collect during the scavenger hunt. Everyone is a winner! Class Breakdown: Prepare for takeoff Students are to empty their pockets before leaving their respective islands. Once on the teacher's island, they have free access to the tools they need to participate in the scavenger hunt. Students wait in the virtual Animal Crossing classroom on the teacher's island until all the participants have arrived. Ice Breaker Students engage in a brief warm-up activity--an excellent opportunity for the participants to become acquainted with each other. If they feel comfortable, they may also exchange friend codes during this time. Ready, Set, Dig! On the teacher's island, there are three designated areas where students can dig for items. The goal is for students to completely fill their pockets while ensuring that they do not have multiples of the same item. Create Your Own Bingo Card Using the objects they collected, students then create their own bingo cards on Google Slides. The Google Slides presentation includes images of all possible art, furniture, music, etc., hidden around the teacher's island. Students can easily copy these images and paste them onto their bingo cards. Three rounds of Bingo The third-place prize of 250,000 bells is awarded at the end of the first round. The second-place prize of 500,000 bells is awarded at the end of the second round, and the first-place prize of 1,000,000 bells is awarded at the end of the third round. Students are allotted time in-between each round to collect new items and update their cards if they choose to. Wrap up Students may keep any items they collect during the scavenger hunt. They may also leave or trade unwanted items and explore the teacher's island at the end of class. Again, everyone goes home a winner!

Welcome!
My classes focus on promoting literacy and online literacy through book clubs, blogging, and online grammar games.
Before becoming a 6th Grade English teacher, I worked as an instructional aide in a film production class for two and a half years and as a substitute teacher for one year. Due to health concerns brought about by the pandemic, I left my teaching position. Still, I love to learn, and I believe that is the key to overcoming any academic obstacle--a willingness to learn and adapt. I am no stranger to remote learning/teaching. Since 2018, I have worked as an independent contractor with VIPKid--teaching English to children in China. This experience has taught me to modify various educational strategies to fit learner needs in physical and virtual classrooms. It has also allowed me to move fluidly from one teaching platform to another. I am very excited to meet my Outschool students, and I look forward to forming a cohesive team of online learners who, even from a distance, are dedicated to building each other up. Let’s do this!
Fun fact about me:
I love comedy, creating and editing short videos, and coffee shop hopping. What is something that is interesting/special about you? Share your responses with me in class.
