Class Experience This is a flex class which means there is no arranged class time or live lessons. Students can access the lessons at any time during the 4-week class. Students will gain knowledge about the emotion of anger. Students will learn ways to plan for managing their anger constructive ways. There will be 4 classes with homework assignments that will help students develop positive constructive ways to deal with angry emotions. Weekly Class Breakdown: Week 1--Students will watch an instructional video to learn that anger is a universal emotion and very normal. Students will learn about "bugs"(things that make you angry slowly and may make you less angry) and "buttons" (things that make you angry quickly and make you very mad) and what could happen if they keep anger inside. Students will be given information about the emotion and what anger may do if it is ongoing and not dealt with. ****Assignment--Students will be asked to think about situations in which they became angry in the past, how their bodies reacted to the anger, and how they dealt with those angry feelings. Students should write about that experience, how they felt and what strategies (if any) they used when they became angry. The assignments must be submitted on the Outschool classroom page. Students may also submit their assignment in video form. Students are encouraged to comment on at least one of the other classmates' submission. Week 2--Students will watch an instructional video and will learn about building self-esteem and confidence. ****Assignment--Students will be asked to write about their "positives", self-talk statements that help them build their self-esteem and confidence. Students may also submit their assignment in video form. The assignments must be submitted on the Outschool classroom page. Students are encouraged to comment on at least one of the other classmates' submission. Week 3--Students will watch an instructional video about constructive and non constructive options when dealing with angry feelings. Students will also think about the ways their anger may affect other people who are around them daily. Students will also learn ways to calm themselves and release their stresses from their body. ****Assignment--Students should think about other ways they may handle anger, other than the options given in the instructional video, and write about it. It can be something you have done previously to express anger. When will you begin to use these techniques and tools? Students may also submit their assignment in video form. The assignments must be submitted on the Outschool classroom page. Students are encouraged to comment on at least one of the other classmates' submission. Week 4--Students will watch an instructional video on ways to calm down and relax their bodies. ****Assignment--After viewing the instructional video, students will be asked to write about their favorite way to relax. This can be something suggested in the instructional video, or it can be something they already knew. Students may also submit their assignment in video form. The assignments must be submitted on the Outschool classroom page. Students are encouraged to comment on at least one of the other classmates' submission. This class is not therapeutic.
