Calling all inspiring paleontologists! If you love dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, this is the club for you. In this ongoing club, students will learn about a specific weekly dinosaur or prehistoric animal that lived on earth. To get the class started I will often do a breaking news story. This will could be about a new discovery or breakthrough in the field of paleontology that I think the kids will enjoy learning about. Occasionally we might look at the overall family or a group of creatures too. Each week will be a different prehistoric animal out of the literal hundreds there are to discover. We will talk about its discovery, what time period it lives in, its unique characteristics, and other wild fun facts. The class will be structured as a power presentation with video clips and sounds (if possible). The end of class will be a time for students to share what they've learned and ask questions. The amount of discussion time at the end of class will vary depending on how many questions students asked in the presentation of our weekly animal. Please be aware that Prehistoric Adventure: Explore Dinosaurs, Marine Reptiles, & Other Animals and Ancient Earth: Uncover Dinosaurs, Marine Reptiles, & Other Amazing Animals! These two classes are very similar covering the same weekly animal? Ancient Earth is geared toward older students while Prehistoric Adventure is more focused on a younger mixed group of students. My teaching style is interactive and I like to ask students questions and encourage the students to ask me questions (though I will never force a shy student to answer if they don't wish to). Students are welcome to bring snacks, fossils, or other neat collectibles to share with their friends. If they like to draw they are free to do so and if time allows they can share their drawing with the class. No prior knowledge is needed, just a love for learning about ancient creatures. Here is a tentative schedule of upcoming creatures but it can change depending on the needs of students within all the classes. Week of July 21st-27th: More Tyrannosaurus Week of July 28th-August 3rd: Ancient Giant Amphibians Week of August 4th-10th: Iguanodon and Hadrosaur Week of August 11th-17th: Majungasaurus and other Odd Therapods Week of August 18th-24th: Prehistoric Sea Creatures Week of August 25th-31st: Movie Dinosaur: Fact vs Fiction Week of September 1st-7th: No Class Week of September 8th-14th: Ice Age Creature Week of September 15th-21st: Suchomimus and Spinosaurus Week of September 22nd-28th: What a Hybrid? Look at IndominusRex as a Hybrid Week of September 29th-October 5th: Ornithomimus and Oviraptorosaurs More Creature Coming! Students also can drop in and out as they want. This class is geared toward older students or more advanced learners. If you think your child might be a good fit feel free to email me to ask questions. Parental Guidance We will be talking about large Prehistoric predators and animals in this class. We will cover topics like what they ate, how they hunted, killed, and how large they got. This could include images or short clips of animals attacking other animals with the goal to kill them, while I will not display any gruesome images, the content could possibly be scary to some children.

I do use video clips from Youtube to show the students the animals we are learning about. I will then send a follow-up email to parents that have the video links for students that wish to finish watching. Please review them as some videos show animals fighting or killing each other which might be upsetting to some students, you can share them with the student if you feel they are appropriate.

Hello everyone! I am so happy to be teaching at Outschool. My first goal is to create an engaging and fun environment that will help foster a genuine love for learning. My passion is to help students discover what they want to learn about whether or not it is academic.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and have been working with school-age children for over nine years. I started working as a Youth Advocate where I taught students’ academic, social, and communication skills. This is where I fell in love with teaching kids by accident and realized how life-altering a true interest in learning anything can be. Since then I’ve worked with an after-school program in which I got the joy of instructing large groups of students in creating various arts, crafts, and science projects. Last, I spent five years teaching as a Paraeducator with higher needs students for a local elementary school before going freelance this year as an ESL teacher. My years in the classroom have made me comfortable teaching academic (math, reading, writing), behavioral, and social skills.
Outside of the classroom, I spend my time doing art, writing, hanging out with my family, and playing with my crazy ferrets. My parent also developed a curiosity about the natural world throughout my childhood I spent many days at museums, camping, and outdoors in my youth. That is why I often spend a considerable amount of my free time reading about animals, dinosaurs, and other prehistorical creatures. As a lifelong learner, I spend far too much learning about various topics in many fields including psychology, sociology, and other fields related to social sciences. I hope one day to get my Master’s in Social Sciences and teach at a college.
