 Week 1
Lesson 1
Lesson 1: Bone Structure, Types, and Repair
In lesson 1 we will learn about the functions and purpose of bones. Some purposes we will mention is storage of minerals, muscle support, protection and support of the body. We will work on learning the types of bones including long, short, irregular, sesamoid, and flat. Then we will discuss bone composition including spongy and compact tissue, types of growth, key features on bones and bone cells. Some bone cells we will discuss are osteoblasts. osteoclasts, osteocytes.
Lesson 2
Lesson 2 : Naming Bones of the Axial Skeleton
In lesson 2 we will explore the anatomy of the axial skeleton where we will practice naming bones of the skull, ribs and vertebrae. During this time, we will be able to take a closer look at key characteristics and the physiology of these bones. We will begin discussing joints in this lesson that pertain to the axial skeleton. Some bones we will name are Frontal, Occipital, zygomatic, mandible, vomer, ethmoid, sacrum, coccyx, hyoid, cervical, thoracic, true ribs, false/floating ribs, sternum.
Lesson 3
Lesson 3: Naming Bones of the Appendicular
In lesson 3, we will explore the anatomy of the appendages including the arms, legs, hands, and feet. We will be able to see the roll the bones play for the body and begin discussing joints that pertain to the appendicular skeleton. Some bones will be named humerus, radius, ulna, metatarsal. Metacarpals, phalanges, calcaneus, patella, femur, tibia, fibula, scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum, and pisiform,, cuboid, navicular, and the medial, middle, and lateral cuneiforms.
Lesson 4
Lesson 4: Fractures, Illnesses, Disorders, and Review
In lesson 4, we will explore fractures, illnesses and disorders. We will differentiate between the types of fractures. We will practice being able to recognize various illnesses and disorders based on description. We will review all lessons with a game. We will identify based on description and x ray/cartoon images fractures such as; open/compound, closed, transverse, longitudinal, greenstick, comminuted, allusion, stress fracture, impacted fractures. Spiral fractures and more.

Detalles: Any homework sent will be calculated as a grade. Additionally, class effort/participation and any assessments done will be calculated for an overall grade. Certificates are made by request.
At home labs will be offered as a homework option but no supplies are needed for class.
