This class will explore presidents, notable Americans, monuments, memorials, and historic buildings in Washington, DC, and delve into their historical significance. The class will be nonpartisan and will include various points of view. Learners will view photos through PowerPoint slideshows. I will use questioning techniques and discussion as students interact. Following the PowerPoint, the students will write about what they have learned. We will work on organization, topic sentences, details, word choice, and conventions.

I loved stepping onto the exact spot Martin Luther King Jr. stood for his iconic I Have a Dream speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Walking through the White House thrilled me as I imagined the historic individuals who had walked its halls. I have enthusiastically taught many learners about Washington, DC through books, music, and plays. I'm so excited to share my knowledge and experience with Outschool students!
I am a teacher certified to teach elementary grades 1-6 and deaf/HH students pre-K-12. I worked as an educational interpreter for several years and as an elementary teacher for many years.
