Students will learn fun facts about ferrets and other members of the weasel family. We will look at what type of responsibilities come with loving and caring for a pet ferret in the home. We will uncover what many funny and strange behaviors ferrets do actually mean. Then we will get to meet live ferrets and talk about them. Since the class, is focused on letting kids explore their curiosity and love of ferrets, students will be encouraged to share their knowledge and to ask lots of questions. I believe students learn best when having fun in a supportive environment that encourages them to express their thoughts and opinions. The class will be done as a multimedia presentation and will introduce students to ferret behavior, caring for them, and other fun facts. We will also learn some interesting information about the weasel family overall. Students are welcome to bring their own ferret to show or bring a favorite stuffed animal along with them.

Hello everyone! I am so happy to be teaching at Outschool. My first goal is to create an engaging and fun environment that will help foster a genuine love for learning. My passion is to help students discover what they want to learn about whether or not it is academic.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and have been working with school-age children for over nine years. I started working as a Youth Advocate where I taught students’ academic, social, and communication skills. This is where I fell in love with teaching kids by accident and realized how life-altering a true interest in learning anything can be. Since then I’ve worked with an after-school program in which I got the joy of instructing large groups of students in creating various arts, crafts, and science projects. Last, I spent five years teaching as a Paraeducator with higher needs students for a local elementary school before going freelance this year as an ESL teacher. My years in the classroom have made me comfortable teaching academic (math, reading, writing), behavioral, and social skills.
Outside of the classroom, I spend my time doing art, writing, hanging out with my family, and playing with my crazy ferrets. My parent also developed a curiosity about the natural world throughout my childhood I spent many days at museums, camping, and outdoors in my youth. That is why I often spend a considerable amount of my free time reading about animals, dinosaurs, and other prehistorical creatures. As a lifelong learner, I spend far too much learning about various topics in many fields including psychology, sociology, and other fields related to social sciences. I hope one day to get my Master’s in Social Sciences and teach at a college.
