Junior crafters will meet for three days to curl an aluminum can, turning it into a unique vintage looking rocking chair! We will complete as much of the chair as possible in the first 55 minute session, followed by a homework assignment to be completed before the second class. We will continue working on the chair in the next two sessions. Please note: Parents will need to pay for all three sessions at once. You will be unable to cancel or request a refund after instruction has begun, so please book carefully and mark your calendar for all three classes. With the recent talk about global warming and environmental conservation, recycling and reusing aluminum cans can be very beneficial. Is it time for a new hobby? I imagine you have lots of different empty aluminum cans in your recycling bin. Grab two or three washed cans and the materials from the material list, and take this lesson to help you turn the can into an awesome looking rocking chair. The students will be cutting and bending aluminum with scissors and needle-nose pliers and measuring with a ruler, so they should be able to do this independently or have adult supervision.

I used to make these chairs all the time when I was 10-12 years old. It's a unique, fun and creative hobby! I spent hours making chairs and other can crafts, long before the Internet with pictures and instructions. I just made them up! I wanted to share my experience with your learner.
