Week 1: Introduction to the Western Honey Bee. We will learn about where bees live, beehives and the different parts of a bee.

In this lesson, students will learn which continents the Western honey bee lives, and the differences between natural beehives and man-made beehives (apiary) as well as the anatomy of the honey bee.

Week 2: We will learn about different types of bees and their specific jobs in the beehive.

In this lesson, students will learn about the different bee members of the beehive and that they're divided into three types: the queen, the worker and the drone. We will discuss the jobs of each type of bee in detail and how they work together in a colony.

Week 3: We will learn about pollination and sustainable beekeeping.

In this lesson, students will learn that honey bees are important pollinators for flowers, fruits and vegetables, focusing on specific crops that are dependent on the honey bee. Students will also learn about sustainable beekeeping; when the interaction between humans and honey bees contribute positively to the healthy population of both wild and domesticated bees.

I will use Nearpod slides to present the information via text, images and video. Students will participate in the lesson by following along with the slides, by referring to and completing hand-outs, through discussion, and activities through Nearpod.
