Algebra 1.5 is a spiral review class covering Algebra 1 topics. Prealgebra topics may also appear, especially as a step in a longer process. Topics may also include looks ahead to Algebra 2 and beyond. Since this is a spiral review class, Algebra 1.5 modules do not need to be taken in any order. This module covers these topics: Multiplying polynomials Linear equation writing Geometry applications (rectangles and triangles) Arithmetic and geometric sequences Each topic will go through this cycle: Learners will receive a preparation assignment and try it on their own. After trying preparation assignments, learners can choose to watch tutorial videos on the topics of the assignment. Learners can post their strategies and any further questions they have. Some topics will also have an extension assignment, which learners can choose to do. Learners can also suggest their own extensions and ask questions about them. Questions from enrolled learners will generally be answered within two school/business days. Questions from subscription learners will be answered as time permits. Learners' questions and posted strategies, in anonymized form, may be worked back in to lesson content for the benefit of further learners. This class is suitable for learners who have completed, or are close to completing, an Algebra 1 course or equivalent material. It is not intended for learners who have already studied a significant amount of Algebra 2. This class may be particularly relevant for learners who are in the Geometry year of a "sandwich system" curriculum (i.e. studying Algebra 1, then Geometry, followed by Algebra 2), those who are reviewing Algebra 1 over the summer, or those who have mostly completed an Algebra 1 curriculum and are starting to review mixed material. Learners who are most of the way through the first of three years of a high school integrated math curriculum, or further, are also on-level for this course.

GeoGebra Classroom is a free educational website that uses open-source dynamic geometry software to help learners explore mathematical concepts. The website allows teachers to view and monitor learners' work in real time, and learners can also choose to create accounts that allow them to save and access their work at a later time. To use the site, learners will need to provide a name or nickname, which the teacher can use to identify their work in the teacher interface. This information is only used for the purpose of tracking progress and is not shared with any third parties. Learners are welcome to use a pseudonym or nickname if they prefer to maintain their privacy.

To use the site, learners can either use their real names or choose to sign in with a pseudonym or nickname for added privacy. The website is designed to be safe and secure, and all learner information is kept confidential and only used for the purposes of tracking progress and providing personalized learning experiences.
Requisitos previos
Learners should have completed all or most of an Algebra 1 or High School Integrated Math 1 curriculum, or a similar level course in another system.
Lista de útiles escolares
Scratch paper and pencils, or a whiteboard and markers. Learners who are preparing for college admissions are advised to keep a portfolio (digital or on paper) of major assignments and 2-3 different types of problems, fully worked, per routine assignment; the materials of the student's choice should be available for this from the beginning of class. Examples include a Google Drive or Dropbox folder, LibreOffice software (Writer and Math), a binder and hole-punched printer paper or a hole puncher, etc. If you may apply to multiple colleges, consider that a digital portfolio is easier to duplicate, and can be printed if a physical copy is wanted. For this class, learners can use GeoGebra exclusively as their graphing calculator. Learners with future plans involving taking exams like the SATs should consider getting and beginning to use a calculator approved for those exams as soon as possible.
