Tarea

1-2 horas por semana. Each lesson video will be accompanied by a worksheet of problems similar to those covered in the lesson. The homework will take 30-60 minutes per lesson or 1-2 hours per week total. If the student elects to receive a grade for the class, they must post the worked-out solution to one problem in the classroom for each homework set. The student may choose any problem not already posted by another student. The solutions to the previous homework assignment will be provided with the next lesson, so that students can check their work.

Evaluación

The course includes 4 quizzes and 2 tests to assess understanding of the material. After submitting each quiz, the learner will receive a personalized detailed feedback video, specifically tailored to their work. The feedback will be sent to the student within a week. In addition to the quizzes, there will be 2 tests in the course. The first test will be posted after completing Units 1-3, while the second test will follow the completion of Units 4-7. Similar to the quizzes, after submitting each test, an individualized feedback video detailing any necessary corrections will be sent to each student. The student can expect to receive the feedback video within a week of submitting each test. All work must be submitted prior to the ending date of class. Feedback and full solutions to the assessments will be provided to each student, along with a percentage grade. Please show your work to receive partial credit, even if the answer is incorrect. Being able to follow your thinking process also helps me give you better feedback.

Calificación

Each student must notify the teacher by the end of the first week of class if they would like to receive a grade. All quizzes and tests must be submitted to receive a final grade.

Nivel Beginner

This class is the second part of a two-semester series that covers the content typically taught in a full-year high-school level Algebra 1 class. To succeed in this class, students must be comfortable working with positive and negative integers, decimals, and fractions. The learner should also be proficient in using the distributive property and solving and graphing equations and inequalities. While not mandatory, it is highly recommended that the student completes my course Algebra 1 (First Semester) prior to enrolling in this class. 

Each topic in this course includes a comprehensive video lesson and corresponding homework assignment. The video lessons will thoroughly explain the relevant concepts and provide step-by-step examples for better understanding. The homework assignment will consist of practice problems directly related to the concepts taught in the lesson. To facilitate self-assessment, complete solution videos for each homework assignment is provided for students to check their work independently.

Students can message me with any questions they have about the content of the lessons and assignments for the 11-week duration of the class. They can expect a response within 24 hours during daytime hours in the EST time zone.

Lección 1:

Distance, rate, and time

 This lesson teaches how to solve word problems involving speed (rate), distance, and time.

Lección 2:

Mixture

 This lesson covers solving word problems that involve mixtures of substances.

Lección 3:

Work

 This lesson teaches how to solve word problems involving rates of work completion.

Unidad 2: Systems of Equations and Inequalities

Lección 4:

Graphing

 This lesson covers how to solve a system of two linear equations by graphing.

Students must be proficient in following Pre-Algebra and beginning Algebra skills: - operations with integers, decimals, and fractions - graphing linear equations and inequalities - solving equations and inequalities

Lista de útiles escolares

For optimal engagement during the video lessons, students are advised to have paper and a pencil readily available to work on the practice problems. While it can be beneficial to have a printer for printing out the worksheets, quizzes, and tests, it is not a requirement. Alternatively, students are welcome to handwrite their responses for the quizzes and tests on paper. Please ensure that the problems are clearly numbered for easy reference.
