This flexible schedule course will cover the Algebra 1 Common Core Standards. The following topics will include the following: Part 2 Unit 6: Exponential Functions and Sequences Week 1: Properties of Exponents, Radicals, and Rational Exponents Week 2: Exponential Functions, Growth, and Decay Week 3: Solving Exponential Equations Week 4: Geometric and Recursive Sequences, Review Unit 7: Polynomial Equations and Factoring Week 5: Adding, Subtracting, and Multiplying Polynomials Week 6: Special Products of Polynomials and Solving Polynomial Equations in Factored Form Week 7: Solving Polynomial Equations in Factored Form and Factoring in Standard Forms Week 8: Factoring Special Products and Factoring Completely Unit 8: Graphing Quadratic Functions Week 9: Graphing Functions Week 10: Graphing Functions Week 11: Using Intercept Form Week 12: Comparing Linear, Exponential, and Quadratic Functions Unit 9: Solving Quadratic Equations Week 13: Solving Quadratic Equations by Graphing and Using Square Roots Week 14: Solving Quadratic Equations by Completing the Square and Using the Quadratic Formula Week 15: Solving Quadratic Equations Using the Quadratic Formula and Choosing a Method to Solve Quadratic Equations Week 16: Solving Nonlinear Systems of Equations and Review Students who are already taking Algebra 1 can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll for a complete Algebra 1 course. The weekly schedule will include the following: Monday: Lesson with with video exposure and instruction of the concept will be posted. Students will be given an assignment to complete by Thursday. Tuesday & Wednesday: Students will work on their assignment on their own. They can message me for additional assistance during this time. Thursday: Lesson with with video exposure and instruction of the concept will be posted. Students will be given an assignment to complete by Monday. Friday: Optional resources will be provided to students who request extra practice with the concept. Students will be provided with individual feedback on their homework and assignments. Students will have the opportunity to engage with one another through platforms such as Flipgrid and discussions on the Outschool Classroom as well as group projects and games. Students will participate in engaging and interactive platforms such as Kahoot, Desmos, and Nearpod in order for me to formatively assess. Daily Lessons Include: Entry Ticket: Students will work on prior learned concepts. Lesson: Students will participate in the interactive math lesson. Exit Ticket: Students will complete an exit ticket to show their understanding of the lesson. Homework: Students will be given a homework assignment to practice the new skill. These math lessons will integrate real-world and engaging topics. Students will be using Nearpod, an interactive platform throughout the live lessons. Students will be provided with several different options for homework every week which include visual, real world and concrete assignments.

Welcome to Seed and Stem Learning Center by Bailey Nelson and Kenneth Kirk!
As a prior public school teacher, Bailey experienced the positive difference that scientific inquiry can have on students. Kenneth, who received his Bachelor's of Business Degree in Economics, found a passion in educating young students the improtance of financial literacy and business education. Bailey and Ken used this inspiration to create a program that allows students to connect across the globe through quality and inclusive education.
Although students take classes virtually, they will be inspired through hands-on and real-world applications and problems. Through our engaging courses, students will develop (or enhance) their love of all subjects by connecting to real-life applications and problems.
Teachers and tutors are all vetted through a rigorous process that focuses on scientific inquiry, problem-based learning, and hands-on pedagogy. Teachers come from a variety of backgrounds including education, economics, engineering, and computer science.
Course Policies:
*Students must provide a camera check at the beginning of class to ensure safety for all learners unless verified by Outschool.
*Ongoing classes are charged on a weekly basis. Prorated refunds based on days attended during the week will not be provided. All class recordings and materials are provided if your learner misses class.
*The Outschool classroom is for learner communication. If you would like to contact the teacher of your learner, please use the teacher communication tab.
