The topics covered will be as follows.

Week 1:

5)Libraries and Academies, becoming the cultural center of the coastal regions
6)Becoming the richest kingdom in the region
7)Losing Dutch Backing
8)The end of the slave trade

Week 2:
1)For or against the British, the fight between the nobility
2) William Pepple becomes King
3)The maddening King
4)The Palace explodes
5)The Bloodied streets of 1832
6)Stealing British ships
7)William Pepple dies
8)The British, place the wrong replacement

Week 3:
1)Civil war
2) Defilement of the old gods, Christianity becomes dominant
3)Civil war part 2
4)Secession and the house of Opobo
5)Losing money, the Bonny-Kalabari War
6)Reform rejection leads to revolution
7)The British decide to change the kings again
8)Instability in the kingdom

Week 4:
1)The high merchant-Oko Jumbo 
2)The game of thrones-Jumbo versus the royal houses
3)Civil war......again
4)Jumbo blows up his enemies
5)Changing faiths, Jumbo brings back the old gods
6)the attempted coup of 1885
7)The British get fed up
8)The regent system
9) Retention of power up to 1914
10) A happy ending for an African kingdom???

My class will be structured along Bonny History.
I will teach using a mixture of slideshows, documentary clips and discussion.
My teaching style can be described as interactive.
Learners will get to interact with me primarily through discussion.
No required knowledge needed.
