In this class, students will learn about the Little Rock Nine and how they contributed to the Civil Rights Movement. I will give a lesson on the courageous 9 African American students who faced their fears by becoming some of the first to integrate at an all-white school. We will have a discussion on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education and the impact it had on the public school system in the USA. Students will briefly learn the history of the unfair laws that were enforced in the 1950's. I will talk to students about how racial segregation negatively impacted students of color. They will understand how the Jim Crow Laws connected to this time in history. We will have discussions on how young voices made many significant changes in America. By the end of class, students will understand why the Little Rock Nine was important and the changes they made in American schools. This class will be very informative and it also connects to my other African American classes. This lesson will be interactive, and each student will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions. If you have any questions about the class or suggestions please send a message. This class could possibly go over 30 minutes, as I love to give all students the time speak if they chose to do so. If you prefer a 1on1, please feel free to contact me!

As an ESL Teacher and Tutor, I have taught classes on African American history, American Figures, Racism, and the civil rights movement for over 4 years. I have experience in teaching this subject to students in elementary, middle, and high school. I also have experience tutoring college students. I have a degree in Communications, so I will be able to communicate and teach this topic without being bias. I was able to research, write essays, and give speeches about this topic throughout college. I was trained by professionals to understand history and the issues surrounding history. Most importantly, I will allow each student to express their thoughts and opinions about this topic. This will help them communicate and show what they have learned. It is very important to include all students. I have taught African American history for 2 years. I studied communications in colleges which heavily focused on Afro and African American studies.
