Club Scratch avanzado: aprende y comparte

In this fast-paced ongoing class, we will split the class time in 2 parts. In the first half, we will build a Scratch project that uses more advanced blocks and/or techniques. These mini-projects will demonstrate how to use the blocks/techniques, with the hope that learners will incorporate these techniques in other Scratch projects outside of class. In the second half of the class, learners can share projects that they have built outside of class. They can ask for feedback, get help debugging a problem, and let others try their projects and give further ideas. Sharing projects is optional, but encouraged. Important: Learners should be very experienced Scratch users, and be very, very comfortable using variables. If a learner is not experienced enough in Scratch, I recommend my multiday Game Design or Storytelling classes (which follow a curriculum that builds from week to week), or the Advanced Beginner Scratch Club for an easier/slower ongoing club Scratch topics covered include: - lists - video sensing extension - built in variables - text-to-speech extension - language translation extension - pen extension - cloning - synchronization with broadcast - creating levels - MyBlocks - cloud variables - nested looping - random block - coding patterns
Metas de aprendizaje
Learners will learn how to use more advanced Scratch blocks and techniques. They will build projects using these new concepts.
Learners will also learn how to participate in project sharing. They will learn how to talk about their project, how to talk clearly about coding, how to receive and give feedback, and how to fix coding problems.

Orientación para padres
Screen setup is really important in this class. I share my Scratch window on Zoom, and I expect that learners can see my Scratch at the same time they work on their own Scratch window. This takes a good amount of screen space. Ideally a large screen on one computer (or laptop).
Learners need to be able to share their Scratch window on Zoom. If a learner uses 2 devices, they will need one device that runs both Scratch and Zoom so they can share.
