How do psychologists change behavior? This is the major focus of behavior modification. In each unit of our class, we will dive into a theoretical topic and apply it to difference psychological disorders and case studies. Please note, this class will apply academic theories of behavior modification to case studies. We will not focus on treatment of a specific learner's mental health. This class is perfect for learners who want a "deep dive" into a specific area of psychology. I teach this same material in my 300/400 level college psychology classes.

Orientación para padres
I will present information about the criteria to diagnosis the different disorders from the DSM. Some of the criteria might be violent in nature. For example, with antisocial personality disorder, there is sometimes violence towards other people. I will state the criteria, but we won't go into detail about the violence.
Most of the class will be focused on current research with the different disorders. We will use case studies to illustrate points, but the material will be age appropriate for learners 13+. Please see the syllabus for a list of case studies we will cover.
Fuentes
I will use the DSM V, as well as current research articles, in the class. I choose case studies from peer-reviewed academic journals such as the Journal of Clinical Psychology & Clinical Case Studies. I also cite a textbook "Behavior Modification: Principles & Procedures" in the course.
