Students can take an Advanced Placement US History review course from a History teacher who teaches American History and Civics I also have taught AP United States History and am currently tutoring for the course on another platform. Topics included will be answering multiple choice, short answer questions document based questions and long essay questions. We will also cover course-topic related issues from Columbus to present day such as the British colonies, the American Revolution, the Founding era, the War of 1812, Manifest Destiny, Texas Independence, Texas Annexation, the Mexican American War, the presidents, court cases and compromises that would lead to the Civil War, Reconstruction, the Gilded Age, Progressiv Era, World War I and II, the Civil Rights Era, the Cold War along with the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and the current era. Students will learn through video clips, lectures, and slides using Nearpod which make boring Powerpoints into interactive lessons and games such a Kahoot, Quizizz, and Quizlet. My teaching style is ensuring student understanding with the use of feedback, technology and words of encouragement (positive reinforcement) Students will receive practice at multiple choice questions through AP formatted stimulus based prompts, long essay questions (LEQs), document based questions (DBQs) and short essay questions (SAQs). Long essay question help will cover thesis statements and best practices for writing developed by Advanced Placement teachers. Document based question help will show the learner how to analyze documents, how many documents are appropriate for crafting a document based question answer, and how to prepare for answering the question as well as answering the question. I am a history teacher with two years as an Advanced Placement US History teacher and one year as an Advanced Placement US History tutor. I have taken numerous AP Summer Institutes as well as AP Professional Development workshops. I was also mentored by an older AP US HIstory Teacher in an official mentoring program.. . I expect students who participate to be active participants, have a positive attitude and be ready to go on a learning adventure. I expect the same from myself as well as well as always being prepared to help your student!

Orientación para padres
Since US History can often times be violent and uncomfortable, parental guidance is suggested. Some of our Founding documents such as the Declaration of Independence as well as other primary sources may contain language that today would be offensive. Please be conscious of this fact.

This class will use primary sources. As you know, sources from the past often use language considered to be racist slurs today. I am a History teacher who teaches and tutors in Advanced Placement US History as well as teaching regular American History and Civics courses. I use reputable sources such as SHEG and Gilder Lehrman and even resources from Teaching Tolerance where appropriate. I teach at a culturally responsive school and have experience working with multiple student populations.
