A course completion certificate can be made available upon request. No grades given. Assessments are made during class throughout the dissection.Calificación
Learner progress is assessed throughout class. It is very helpful if a student's camera is able to be moved so that the instructor can visualize their progress.Experiencia de clase

Nivel Advanced
In this two-day class, students will perform an advanced dissection of a fetal pig. Dissection is a tool used in life sciences and biology to help students understand different species anatomy, as well as their own anatomy and physiology. This class is advanced. You must have either taken intermediate dissection classes of mine or message me with your prior dissection experience. This is NOT a class for a novice. In all the dissection classes I offer, the fetal pig dissection will give students a closer glimpse to organ systems similar to their own. We will be able to follow major arteries and veins in this specimen as well as complete organ systems (digestive, endocrine, reproductive). At the beginning of class, we observe the external anatomy of the preserved pig before beginning the dissection. Students will be able to estimate the fetal age compared to their size. As the dissection begins, students can expect to observe the spinal cord, stomach, intestines, heart, bladder, liver, and kidneys. We will continue to discuss the terms dorsal, ventral, anterior, and posterior in terms of each specimen. Students will need to have their own dissection kit, fetal pig specimen, and safety wear. I recommend gloves and glasses/goggles for this specimen as it is the largest we have done in our dissection series so far. Please also have a clean place to work and plenty of paper towels, wash cloths, or tissues nearby for clean up. This dissection will take two-days and the specimen will need to be REFRIGERATED in between classes. Wrap specimen in a large plastic bag or plastic wrap to preserve between Day 1 and 2. Recommended Order of Dissection Classes: Beginning Dissection Beginner Earthworm Dissection Beginner Starfish Dissection Beginner Clam Dissection Intermediate Crayfish Dissection Intermediate Perch Dissection Intermediate Frog Dissection Advanced Pig Dissection Please note, fewer number of students may result in a shortened class time. There will be no refunds issued for a student(s) missing class.

Orientación para padres
Dissection tools are sharp and as such, your student must be mature enough to handle them on their own by your estimation. Reproductive organs are also a large organ system of the fetal pig and will be part of the anatomy that students dissect. Students will be able to determine the sex of their specimen. Pigs have a more developed reproductive system than other specimens we have dissected before as well as being very similar to our own. Please make sure your student is mature enough to handle naming and dissecting these organs.
Safety wear is required; please have gloves and safety glasses or goggles available. Masks may also be worn if your learner would like. These specimens are preserved in a chemical fluid to allow for dissection. You will want to wash your work area and hands after class thoroughly.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
2 Grado
Maestría desde Western Governors University
Licenciatura en Ciencia desde Missouri Southern State University
I was a middle school science teacher for 10 years and have been teaching dissection on Outschool for 4 years. In that time, have lead hundreds of students through many dissections including the hot dog, earthworms, clams, crayfish, sharks, and pigs. In my college Zoology class, I was the only student to successfully extract the entire spinal nerve of a crayfish that the professor had ever had! I find dissections fascinating and a good stepping stone for any student interested in anatomy, physiology, zoology, or college sciences.
