Why do some people commit crimes? Are there commonalities between people who commit different types of crimes? We will discuss the psychology behind criminal behavior in this class on forensic psychology. This class is ideal for students who are curious about the connection between psychology and the law. Each week we will critically discuss a criminal case. During the first part of class, I will share information about the criminal case. During the second half of class, we will discuss the case with guided discussion questions. Learners are welcome to join and leave at any time. Here's the list of topics we will be covering (I will continually update our list of topics): Week of August 26th: The Story Of Burke And Hare, The 19th-Century Serial Killers Who Sold The Corpses Of Their Victims Week of September 2nd: The Story Of Shelly Knotek, The Serial Killer Mom Who Now Walks Free Week of September 9th: Why Ivan The Terrible Was The Most Terrifying Tsar In Russian History Week of September 16th: The Story Of David Camm, The Man Wrongfully Convicted Of Murdering His Wife And Children Week of September 23rd: The Story Of Henry Avery, The ‘Pirate King’ Who Mysteriously Vanished After Pulling Off History’s Most Lucrative Piracy Raid Week of September 30th: The Story Of Kaitlin Armstrong, The ‘Yoga Teacher Killer’ Who Murdered Her Romantic Rival

Orientación para padres
This class focuses on criminal behavior. I will focus on the psychology behind why people commit crimes, but I will not focus on specific details of the crimes. For example, I may define a crime (such as homicide is where someone is killed by another person), but I will not give graphic details of the crime. There are also crimes which I will not cover such as crimes against children or those of a sexual nature.
My focus is on the psychological research on what makes a person commit a specific crime.
