Advanced Composers Club is a place for kids who love to compose music to get together and share compositions, tips, and ideas for new music. If you already know some music theory (like note names, chord names, and writing a melody), and you are eager to compose, share your compositions with other kids, and hear other kids' compositions, you will have a lot of fun in this club. 

All students will have a chance to show their compositions for positive, constructive feedback and encouragement.  Students will be encouraged to compose music that expresses their personal style and holds meaning for them.  We will actively practice being a positive creative learning community, supporting each other by listening and showing kindness.  Access to Noteflight Learn is included with enrollment. Composing topics we will focus on:
Week of 6/12: instrumentation you like to use in your composing
Week of 6/19: melodic shapes you like to use in your composing
Week of 6/26: harmonies you like to use in your composing
Week of 7/3: rhythms you like to use in your composing

About me:
In 30 years of teaching music in private lessons and public elementary schools, the most incredible moments for me have occurred when students enjoyed learning music and felt positive personal connections.  This is what I hope to bring to the many young people learning from home or hoping for more meaningful music experiences.  I am positive, upbeat, and relaxed, and invite students to join in as they feel comfortable.
