Homework for classes will be minimal, if at all. Students may have to work on developing sentences for a next class if there is a game to be played which requires them, but most likely, there will be no work outside of class time.Evaluación
Learners and parents will be provided with an assessment upon request. Students and parents can also request a certificate of completion once the course has finished.Experiencia de clase
This 16-week online course in American Sign Language requires previous knowledge (preferably, at least 20 weeks of ASL study) in order to participate in this class. If you have questions concerning whether or not your learner is ready for this course, please reach out and let me (the instructor) know where your student is at in their ASL experience. As these meetings will spend good portions of time in "voice-off" mode, learners must have a base knowledge of ASL vocabulary and signed sentence structure (syntax) in order to participate. There will be portions of class which will be voice-on: these will include instructional lesson times (expanding on knowledge of use of classifiers, syntax and other advanced signing concepts in ASL). The 16-week course will include conversational signing between the students as well as the teacher, instruction in sign, classroom sign recognition challenges, fun game days and more! Here is an example of what you can expect to see over the course of the 16 weeks: Week 1: Game Day - Two Truths and One Lie Week 2: Lesson Day - Lexicalized Fingerspelling Week 3: Conversation Day - We will start class by spinning the "Conversation Wheel". The wheel will land on a topic or question and we will sign about that topic or in response to the question asked. Week 4: Game Day - Crazy Categories Week 5: Lesson Day - Money, Height and Other Numbered Things Week 6: Conversation Day - Conversation Wheel Week 7: Game Day - ASL Bingo Week 8: Lesson Day - Idioms Week 9: Conversation Day - Conversation Wheel Week 10: Game Day - Wheels of Fortune - a sentence building game Week 11: Lesson Day - Classifiers Week 12: Conversation Day - Conversation Wheel Week 13: Game Day - 20 Questions Week 14: Lesson Day - Mouth Morphemes Week 15: Final Review Day - ASL Jeopardy Week 16: Final Test - a cumulative review of the concepts learned in ASL 3.

Orientación para padres
It is possible that there may be discussions concerning signing about gender identification, pronouns, etc. in class. I will not go out of my way to teach specific lessons on these topics, but if a student asks about how to sign about these topics, I will answer those questions. Please be aware of that.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I grew up with a Deaf family member. I learned the basics of American Sign Language at a very young age and found it incredibly helpful as I moved through childhood and into adulthood. I could communicate with other children who were clearly frustrated that no one either could or was willing to take the time and make the effort to interact with them. As an adult, I studied American Sign Language in college so that I could better communicate with the many deaf and hearing impaired members of my community.
