In this exciting one-time class, learners will explore the fascinating world of bees within a specially crafted Adopt Me house designed by Ms. Wish just for this experience. We will investigate bee life through a journey into a giant hollow tree, featuring three immersive floors that each focus on a different aspect of bees. On the first floor, we'll uncover the anatomy of bees, examining their unique body parts and how each contributes to their daily life. Moving to the second floor, we'll look at the roles of different types of bees—drones, workers, and the queen—and discover their vital functions within the hive. Finally, on the third floor, we'll explore the broader ecology of bees, their natural habitats, and their essential role in our environment. To make this adventure even more memorable, each learner will receive a queen bee pet to keep and cherish. We’ll also wrap up with a fun Kahoot quiz to review what we’ve learned and test our bee knowledge. This interactive class is designed to be highly engaging, with plenty of opportunities for participation and exploration. I am eager to guide everyone through this buzzing adventure and encourage questions and discussions along the way. I look forward to embarking on this un-BEE-lievable journey with your young explorer!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
My name is Christine, but in 2021, many of my learners started calling me by the nickname Ms. Wish after my gamer handle. I love it and it stuck! I have taught students from infants to senior citizens in various subjects, though I have a special affinity for video gaming, music, math, theater, and language.
During the 2019-2020 school year, I was teaching a self-contained 5th-grade class at a private school when I was suddenly required to shift to online learning. On Outschool, I teach mostly social gaming clubs as I have found a need for learners to socialize while playing their favorite online games in a safe and supervised environment. In these classes, students build important social skills needed to have fun and stay safe in an online gaming environment. I am a strong believer that much learning happens through play! Like Maria Montessori said "play is the work of the child." These days much play happens in the virtual world, and as a lifelong gamer I choose to embrace it!
I have had a passion for teaching since I was in 3rd Grade and was selected for a program that allowed a few students to tutor 1st-grade students in reading and math. Since then, I have worked as a teacher/tutor my entire adult life. I have a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies with a concentration in music and have received training in the Kodaly Method of teaching music to young learners. My instrument of choice is my voice.
I have a gentle and playful teaching style built on mutual respect. My favorite quote is from Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, "Careful the things you say. Children will listen. Careful the things you do. Children will see and learn."
When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking and rediscovering the wonders of nature with my son.
I am looking forward to seeing your learner in class!
