ADHD and Me (Elementary) – Semester course ADHD and Me Semester course built for supporting learnings with enjoyable activities for focus, confidence, emotions, self-control and more. This curriculum is created for the Pre-teen students and was created as a semester course after requests from Parents that had great success with High-Five Summer Camp. Offered for ages 8-12, as an 6-week course to support learners in finding success at home, school and with friends. In this course series learners will understand how to find and use the dynamics of the Executive Functioning mind, harness their superpower, ignite new thought patterns and grasps on to their uniqueness through interactive activity models that will focus on streamlining executive function skills. We will work together on a process to find which skills are your strengths and how we can decrease anxiety and increase logical thinking. My ADHD and Me Semester Course – we will meet once a week for 6 weeks, as a mini-semester course, to help student see the positive characteristics and exceptional strengths as advantages for their social and academic lives. Week 1 -Strengths Finding Success through Challenge Inspirational true stories-patience and perseverance Building-up Self Confidence Week 2-Managing Emotions (Self Controls and Impulses) Skills for anger, frustration and outbursts Triggers & Calming Tools Managing impulses and making good decision Feelings Activity-Games (positive and reactionary) Do-Over choice making. Week 3-Focus Skills Attention, Focus and listening skills Become an investigator or You. Brain Breaks Focus Cards/ HyperFocus Week 4-Organizational Habits and skills Journal Maps Sticky Note Success Visualization skills Evening closure Centering practice Week 5 – Thoughts and Communication Expressing Yourself Learning how we feel Empathy Exercises Feel good actions/challenge Truths and Facts activities Week 6-Planning with Preparation Making plans-homework, projects, personal plans… 3 step planning-Goals and Success -Preparation Success for Positive Future Positive Future activity Letter to Self This course follows the standard Refund Policy: "Full refund until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase (until class starts).” It's important to us that everyone has a positive experience learning with Outschool. I have a Masters in Cross-Categorical Special Education with an emphasis in high-incidence needs and a Bachelor of Psychology with specific courses in Motivation and Emotion, Physiological Psychology, and Principals and Learning, which guide my teachings and tools for students and adults with ADHD.
I have over 11 years in the standard classroom setting (K-12) and over 2 years ESL online teaching. I have been honored to be a special education director, dean of students and work as a trainer of other district staff at the state department level.
Areas of specialty: Special education [Autism-Asperger (social & communication), ADHD, and SLD], Art - (fine art classes, studio art & art therapy), Fashion design (sewing technique & couture training). I will be offering a range of classes in these areas for K-12 and updating often so be sure to check back for new courses.
