For teens with ADHD and other learning differences, listening and following directions can be challenging due to lack of focus and difficulty with task intitiation.  This class will allow students to practice listening and following directions with a number of engaging activities.  

The teacher will review strategies for following written directions and give suggestions to help students get clarification when they do not understand verbal directions. Students will practice listening comprehension skills by responding when key words are read in an age appropriate magazine article.  Students will learn how to explain their challenges with directions to the adults in their lives and receive some suggestions for self advocacy.  Students will do an activity that will highlight the importance of following directions. Finally students will participate in games that allow them to practice following multi-step and conditional directions.
