For teens with ADHD and other learning differences, listening and following directions can be challenging due to lack of focus and difficulty with task intitiation. This class will allow students to practice listening and following directions with a number of engaging activities. The teacher will review strategies for following written directions and give suggestions to help students get clarification when they do not understand verbal directions. Students will practice listening comprehension skills by responding when key words are read in an age appropriate magazine article. Students will learn how to explain their challenges with directions to the adults in their lives and receive some suggestions for self advocacy. Students will do an activity that will highlight the importance of following directions. Finally students will participate in games that allow them to practice following multi-step and conditional directions. ****My Refund Policy**** One Time Class: Full refund upon request up to one week before the start of class.

Students will practice listening attentively, learn to ask for help and clarification when following directions, and practice following written and verbal directions using various activities and strategies.

Class supports executive function development in neurodivergent learners including autistic learners as well as those with ADHD and anxiety. Templates are shared in PDF and Google Doc form to support learners with dyslexia and dysgraphia.

The teacher will provide activity handout and study guides in the Outschool classroom that can be printed out before class starts. A highlighter, a pen, and paper would also be helpful for this class.

She is credentialed to teach high school and middle school learners by the State of California with a Master's Degree in Teaching from the University of California Santa Cruz. She teaches executive function support classes for teens here on Outschool and is also a technical trainer for adult learners.
