⭐In this 6-week course, students will learn how to add and subtract fractions with like (common) denominators!⭐ 👉🏼This class is perfect for the learner who is looking to gain confidence in adding and subtracting fractions.. We’ll make learning about fractions engaging, upbeat and encouraging! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C L A S S B R E A K D O W N : ➕Week 1: Important Vocabulary & Simplifying Fractions Students will learn the important vocabulary terms we’ll be using throughout class and will also learn the skill of simplifying fractions. ➕Week 2: Adding Fractions Students will learn and practice the steps for adding fractions with like denominators. ➕Week 3: Subtracting Fractions Students will learn and practice the steps for subtracting fractions with like denominators. ➕Week 4: Adding Mixed Numbers Students will learn and practice the steps for adding mixed numbers with like denominators. ➕Week 5: Subtracting Mixed Numbers Students will learn and practice the steps for subtracting mixed numbers with like denominators. ➕Week 6: Review of Weeks 1-5 Students will show their understanding of adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with like denominators.. C L A S S R O O M S T R U C T U R E : ✏️Community Building: Introductions & Question of the Day ✏️Class Introduction: Discuss our learning target of the day and class expectations ✏️Instruction: I do, We do, You do - I will introduce and model the skill, we will practice as a class, and finally, students will practice independently. ✏️Class Closing: Class reflection on our learning target and individual reflection on effort 🔴P L E A S E N O T E🔴 : 🔻Learners should have an understanding of addition and subtraction with whole numbers, as well as some background knowledge of fractions. 🔻Learners should know most, if not all, of their multiplication and division facts as we will be simplifying fractions. 🔻This class will utilize the chat feature in Zoom in order for learners to be able to privately send me their answers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please reach out with any questions you may have - I can’t wait to meet your learner in class! 👩🏼🏫
