During this hands-on math class, learners will begin identifying two digit numbers. After we have reviewed what a two digit number looks like, then we will begin looking at adding two digit numbers. We will begin by acknowledging the sets of numbers and placing them in there correct place. 

While reviewing the ones and tens concepts, (which is also known as place value) we will begin working as a group to problem solve. 

After the concepts have been reviewed multiple times and examples have been shown, we will begin working simple two digit math problems. 

This will be a great 3 week learning experience that can help expand each learners knowledge when it comes to two digit addition and subtraction. 

Week one
We will begin reviewing two digit numbers and their place value. After this concept is fully grasp we will begin diving into decomposing (breaking apart) numbers if time allows. 

Week two-
After we have learned the concept of breaking down numbers we will begin adding two digit numbers. This concept will build the confidence of each student and allow them to begin adding larger numbers. We will not complete any regrouping in this course. Children will get an opportunity to work as a group to problem solve. 

Week three
During the third week of class children will already have the addition concepts down and we will begin subtracting two digit numbers. For some of the students this might be a little challenging but I am going to do my best to walk them through each step. Children will be allowed to use the manipulatives to help them solve these problems during each class. We will not begin borrowing in this lesson. 

In week three we will review both concepts and take time to fill in any gaps.

The Montessori approach would be used to help children understand two digit addition and subtraction. 
Montessori-This method of education is based on self directed activities, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the teacher offers age-appropriate activities to guide the process.
