CLASS OVERVIEW: WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR: This class is for learners with a passion for acting in TV and Film taught by a working TV, film, theatre, and commercial actor. WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT? Students will be taught how to act for TV and FILM. WHAT TOPICS WILL BE COVERED? Students will learn what happens from the audition, booking the role, and being on set. They will learn everything from the actor's breakdown to being a script detective to find clues, learn multiple ways to interpret a scene, and more. Most importantly, students will learn to refocus their energy to minimize nervousness. WHAT IS THE CLASS STRUCTURE? Level 1 class can be repeated and is organic. Each session will mainly focus on using yourself as a foundation for acting. Other aspects of acting will be introduced. New class levels will be introduced for students after graduating from level one. WHAT HAPPENS EACH WEEK? Each week, students will warm up, build on their acting process and professional knowledge, and then apply the new knowledge to performing scenes and fine-tuning those scenes after receiving feedback. Due to the nature of the work, CAMERAS NEED TO REMAIN ON during the class unless the instructor allows for audio only. WHAT'S MY TEACHING STYLE? I am straightforward, and I respect each individual. I expect the same respect in return, and for learners to respect each other. Every student can learn as long as they desire to do so. I ask that students who join my class ask themselves if they are sincerely interested in doing the work, being challenged, and having fun in a professional atmosphere. WHAT LEVELS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SIGN UP? Beginners and intermediate actors are welcome to take this course. Here are some loose definitions I've come up with for both levels: BEGINNERS: should have a deep desire to learn acting for TV and FILM, should watch shows to have a frame of reference for the art form, and might have plans to audition, obtain an agent, and possibly pursue a career or hobby in acting. INTERMEDIATES: have a deep desire to learn acting for TV and FILM, watch shows and have a frame of reference for on-screen acting technique, may be enrolled in theatre and may have worked on student films or even a professional on-screen set like a film, TV show or commercial. Students at this level may have a talent agent or manager or be seeking one but want to solidify an acting process before taking things to the next level. WILL LATE ENROLLEE'S BE ACCEPTED? New students will not be accepted into the class after the first session. Students will have to wait for the next rotation.
