In this one-time acrylic painting class students will paint a Wayne Thieubaud inspired cupcake and learn some techniques
American artist Wayne Thiebaud (born 1920) is best known for his colorful depictions of common items, such as pies, cakes, hot dogs, paint cans, and even lipsticks. 
*Students need to be within the stated age range this class is aimed at please.

I will start off by talking about the artist and showing examples of his work. 
With my guidance students will draw the a cupcake with frosting, whipped cream topping and a cherry
We will paint our background first
Next, students will paint the cupcake and I will show them how to add shading/highlights. Students may chose to use different colors than mine
We will add a shadow with a little reflected light on the table.

Note: Please do not use printer/copy paper...children are disappointed when their work is floppy and doesn't hold up to painting. If you are unable to get a watercolor pad then mixed media would be another choice. A drawing paper pad, though not meant for painting could work as the paper is a little sturdier.

My teaching style: I am a rather introverted artist who teaches....I am told that I am patient, encouraging, focused, firm. I enjoy/work best with older students. I believe my students should be free to put their own creative touches on their work. I have limited experience with special needs students (ADHD, Autism etc) I hope this is helpful as you read through reviews and decide if your learner will be a good fit.

My name is Camille Jacks, originally from Jamaica, I have lived in the US since 1991.  I was awarded a portfolio scholarship to attend The Savannah College of Art and Design where I earned a BFA in Computer Art and Animation and graduated Magna Cum Laude.  
My hands are always busy and I love to teach myself new things.  I draw, paint, knit & crochet (have written patterns for magazines) needle felt, dabble in origami, macramé, weaving and sewing.
I started my teaching journey as a Media Specialist at a private Elementary school in 2004 where my little girl attended.  We moved to Georgia in 2007 and I worked for a company as a mobile computer teacher working with Preschool and Elementary school kids at various schools. The business did not survive so I started working for a company teaching art in the after school programs.
Before Coronavirus I was extremely busy teaching my own adult and kids classes and workshops (oil, watercolor and acrylic) at local county fine arts facilities plus Summer Art Camps. I also taught for a year at a Montessori school and simultaneously started my Outschool journey. 
Once in a while I get to do something cool like be a guest demo artist (needle felting) at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta (July 2018).  When I am not working I am a mom to a young adult daughter. a little bunny and a Diamond Dove.
