1-2 horas por semana. Every week learners will be expected to complete the painting demonstrated in the video and submit it to me. They will be encouraged to practice painting techniques as well. If learners do not submit their homework, that is ok, but I will be unable to provide helpful feedback.Evaluación
I will provide helpful feedback if the learner sends me a photo fo their painting in the learner area. If the student does not submit the painting, then I can not provide feedback.Experiencia de clase

In this 4 part acrylic painting course. We will focus on a variety of different acrylic painting techniques and create 4 lovely paintings together. This is a great course for both “seasoned” beginners and artists who already know how to paint but want to experiment with acrylics. Students don't need a lot of painting experience, but ideally they will used acrylics a few times before this class. On top of acrylic painting techniques, learners will also learn about basic composition and lighting. HOW THE CLASS WORKS If the class is taken, and it’s entirety, there will be a total of four paintings. The first one is sunset, the second one and underwater painting, the third one a chicken, and the fourth one abstract. These paintings are divided into separate lessons. For every lesson learners will be expected to watch the class videos and paint along. If they want feedback they can send their art to me. Feedback is optional. These videos are step by step pre-recorded videos They can be paused or rewound as needed so learners can paint at their own pace. I will post one class video every lesson. Videos will range in length between 30 minutes to an hour. The paintings themselves are expected to take learners between 1-2 hours each. Because this class is self-paced, learners can watch the video over the course of a few days and paint along at their own speed. Painting can be messy. Make sure you’re wearing clothes that are good for painting, and make sure you have something underneath your painting to protect your desk. I hope everybody has fun learning some new painting techniques and creating these beautiful paintings with me.
Metas de aprendizaje
Acrylic painting techniques: Blending (gradient), dabbing, dry brush, scraping, masking, directional brushstroke work, layering, wash, fine detail painting, abstract painting.
On top of acrylic painting techniques, learners will also learn about basic composition and lighting.
Patience and persistence: Art is a lot of fun, and part of that fun is a rollercoaster of successes and struggles. Students who complete a 4 part class will (hopefully) challenge themselves enough to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow as artists.

Lista de útiles escolares
• 8 OR MORE PAINT COLOURS: Yellow, Red, Blue, Orange, Pink, Purple, White, Black NOTE: Better quality paint usually results in better paintings. My go-to paint is Winsor Newton or Artist loft Level 3, however I often use Deco Art Acrylic Paint for classes because it’s more affordable, dries faster, and many students use that brand. Deco art paint works very well! • 6 OR MORE PAINT BRUSH: Thick flat brush = 1in wide. Soft Medium flat brush = 1/3 inch wide. Hard (or damaged) Medium flat brush = 1/3 inch wide. 2 Medium round, soft bristled brush. (Size 2, 6-8) Very small, thin rounded brush (Size 0-000) • 5 GOOD PAINT SURFACE: Hard canvases like a canvas board, stretched canvas, or wood boards are ideal. Sturdy cardboard from a cereal/cracker/cookie box or frozen food box will work too. It will need to be taped down. Watercolour or canvas paper will work. It will need to be taped down. NOTE: Regular paper will not work. • 4 PRACTICE PAINT SURFACES: I use thin, smooth, sturdy cardboard from a cereal/cracker/cookie box or frozen food box. Paper will work to practice most techniques. • PALATE: I use plastic lids • OLD RAG/CLOTH • HARD, FLAT EDGES: I use an old plastic wallet card, but a plastic ruler, palate knifes or even a spatula will work. • WATER CONTAINER • PAINTERS TAPE • PENCIL AND ERASER • BLOW DRYER (optional)

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura desde Alberta College of Arts and Design
I love to teach art, and specialize in drawing (wide variety of styles and techniques), procreate, watercolour, and acrylic painting. When I teach, I like to lead by example. This means that I draw, paint and create with my students. Throughout class I make myself available for questions, assistance and feedback.
I’ve been teaching art for over 5 years, and I have been creating art professionally since 2011. I have illustrated marketing materials for Denny’s, Newman’s Own, Duane Reade, Discovery Children’s Museum, The Mendes Foundation and other clients.
I also have extensive experience in advertising. I’ve been working as an art director (now creative director) for over 17 years. I worked in New York City for 10 years, Cambodia for one, and I currently work remotely out of my home office in Canada. In my advertising career I've made TV commercials, print campaigns, radio spots, online ads, videos and billboards (even some in Time Square.) I love thinking of cool ideas and bringing them to life. I am excited to share this skill with my students.
I believe that art is more than an applicable workplace skill. Art is a form of healthy self-expression and personal reflection. I also believe that art teaches the importance of patience and persistence. It is an education for the mind and soul.
For me, art is meditative. I own dozens of sketchbooks filled with drawings I’ve done throughout the years. Many pages contains a memory, emotion, thought or experience. As a mother, I find additional inspiration through my daughter and new son.
Art is everywhere, if you look for it. Children especially have a gift for finding beauty in the world. I hope to harness this gift so every child in my class can find their own unique, artistic voice.
