In this flexible schedule class, we will learn about the real outlaws who roamed the American Wild West! Each week, we will look at three real Wild West outlaws! Prerecorded Lessons will consist of some or all of the following: slides and a lecture. As a flex class, we will not meet live! Each week will be a flexible schedule. Students will demonstrate their learning through participation in the weekly classroom activities (no live meetings). The emphasis of activity is through the pedagogical practice of Socratic discussions and engagement. *This is a flexible schedule class. Each lesson will be delivered via a prerecorded video that will be uploaded into the classroom every week. Each week, students will be assigned an activity to complete related to the prerecorded video. Each student will be required to comment on peer activity postings at least once each week (if possible, I do follow through with single learner enrollments), throughout the course in order to develop a sense of community in the class. The instructor will be available to help and will provide individual feedback throughout the course to student responses, questions, and commentary through the Outschool classroom. Lessons will consist of some or all of the following: slides, a lecture, and community discussion (via the Outschool classroom), where students can ask questions and express thoughts, opinions, and anecdotes on each topic that occurs through the Outschool classroom posting area. Additionally, other modes will also be used to facilitate spotlight topics and student interaction. Students will also participate in web quests, as well as create their own Wild West Outlaw persona in the last week of class. During this flexible schedule class, over the next five weeks, we will learn about the following outlaws: Week 1: The Earps, Doc Holliday, & the Cowboys Week 2: Jesse James, Butch Cassidy, & Sundance Kid Week 3: Billy the Kid, Belle Starr (the Bandit Queen), & John Wesley Harden Week 4: (Not-Quite-Outlaws in the Wild West) Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill Cody, and (BONUS!) Annie Oakley

Orientación para padres
We will be talking about real American outlaws from the period of America's "Wild West" in the 19th century. With this, it is acknowledged that the majority of the people we will be discussing were notorious criminals who committed terrible acts, including murder. Thus, this class will approach the topic with historical accuracy, but, it will be delivered in a kid-friendly manner.
