During the month of December, A Christmas Carol is everywhere! From plays to cartoons to movies, each year newer adaptations of this classic tale continue to enchant us. In this class we will learn about what prompted Dickens to write this story. How did he craft his unique career? What was his inspiration and goal with this story? What was the public response? Why did he use ghosts as the vehicle in a holiday story? Were there really business owners who gave their employees extra holiday time off so they wouldn't be compared to Scrooge? Come and find out! It is not required that learners read or watch an adaptation of the story before class, but it will be helpful. We will be discussing the characters and plot lines. This class will consist of clips from various films and tv adaptations, as well as a power point presentation.
