***FIRST CLASS WITH MISS LINDSAY?? Use code ERNSTFALL2410 for $10 OFF any of my classes!! Do you want your kids to read the book before the movie? Join in as we delve into and analyze the wonderful character Roz and all her adventures in a new home in The Wild Robot. This WILDLY popular novel has won the NYT Best Illustrated Children's Book, Childrens Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, White Honors, Irma Black Honors, Golden Kite Award, Caldecott Honor, E.B. White Read Aloud Award and MANY others! Your kids are sure to love Roz and all her adventures, just like everyone else!! **BEFORE FIRST CLASS** Read teacher created handouts(background knowledge and vocabulary) Read Chapters 1-26(pg. 1-68) Learners will need to be able to read 8-10 pgs. a day/60-70 pgs. a week, to keep up with the reading and class discussion. Class will be structured with engaging discussions, and activities, students will analyze background information, vocabulary, characters, explore settings, plot and themes, symbolism and figurative language, and conflict and resolutions. Learners will be assigned weekly reading to be completed before each class. I will also be sending engaging novel study assignments. This is a great way for students to dig deep into their reading while also engaging in cross curricular activities. This will be open and go and can be done on their own. These are OPTIONAL, but students will really enjoy them and learn ALOT! This is NOT a, read a book and talk about it, class. This is a LEARNING class! We want to learn everything about Roz and her story, which includes, hurricanes, wilderness survival, bullying, nature, adoption, and so much more! When we read, we learn! We also want to understand the story. So learning about literary elements is KEY to really comprehending Roz's story and why things happen. Many times a little ones read, they miss many details because they focus on certain parts or don't know certain literary aspects to dig deep and understand. These literary elements will help them read more closely and comprehend any text going forward! Are you ready to find out how Roz, The Wild Robot, got in the wild? ME TOO! Let's go on an adventure and LEARN! **LAST CLASS** To participate in the last class, each learner will need to see the movie in the theater, or stream it, if it is no longer in the theater, prior to the last class. This requires some extra fees for you, so please plan ahead.

Necesidades de aprendizaje
This class is inclusive to all learners(ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia).
Orientación para padres
"The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown does discuss some sensitive material, such as bullying, motherhood, adoption, belonging, and death. This book is listed for ages 7-10, but I prefer it for 8-12. If these subjects concern you, please feel free to reach out, or read/listen to the book prior to your child. Many themes are presented but presented well and help the overall story of Roz.
Requisitos previos
There should be able to read at a 3rd grade level. If your learner does not, but would still like to participate, please use The Wild Robot audiobook for listening.
