In 'A Black People's History of the United States': RELOADED, students will map the causes, development and consequences of Black People's participation and facilitation in/of America's inception. We will begin the course by rooting ourselves in a decolonial framework and engaging with historical, geographical, socio-political, economic, and cultural understandings of North American, pre colonization, in order to aid us in understanding how enslaved Africans charted the course for progression, success and freedom. By utilizing African folklore and oral history, academic research and discussion, we will establish a solid understanding of African-American history and culture in the United States. Highlighting key figures, those commonly praised alongside unsung heroes, this course will provide students with a complete framework for understanding the multi-faceted, complex nature of Black History in the US.
