This is a traditional math class taught similar to class at school. Week 1: Factors and Multiples Week 2: Prime Factorization and Exponential Notation, Greatest Common Factor (GCF), Least Common Multiple (LCM) Week 3: Square Roots and Cube Roots, Idea of Negative Numbers and the Number Line, Absolute Value Week 4: Addition and Additive Inverse, Subtraction and Absolute Value of the Difference Week 5: Multiplication, Division, and Combined Operations of Integers Week6: Rational Numbers, Real Numbers and Use of Calculators Week 7: Rounding Numbers to Decimal Places, The Use of Letters in Algebra Week 8: Basic Notations in Algebra, Exponential Notation, Evaluation of Algebraic Expressions Week 9: Formulas, Writing Algebraic Expressions to Represent Real-world Situations Week 10: Like Terms and Unlike Terms, Distributive Law, Addition and Subtraction of Linear Algebraic Expressions Week 11: Simplification of Linear Algebraic Expressions, Factorization by Extracting Common Factors, Factorization by Grouping Terms Week 12: Simple Linear Equations in One Variables, Week 13:Equations Involving Parentheses, Week 14: Simple Fractional Equations, Forming Linear Equations to Solve Problems, Ratios Week 15: Ratios Involving Rational Numbers, Meaning of Ratios, Simplification of Ratios, Ratio of Three Quantities Problems Involving Ratios Week 16: Average Rate Speed, Uniform Speed and Average Speed, Conversion of Units Week 17: Percentage, Discount and Sales Tax Week 18: Angles, Triangles, and Quadrilaterals, Classification of Triangles, Construction of Triangles, Quadrilaterals Paper and pencil are the only required materials. Slides will be taught in textbook fashion with interactive drill/practice features when possible. In addition to the live meetings an independent practice activity will be posted after each meeting so that students can practice learned skills independently. This is from the corresponding workbook. These outside of class activities are optional but encouraged as part of the class experience. The progression of this class feeds into the next class which covers Book 7B of the Grade 7 Singapore Dimensions textbook. The completion of Singapore Dimensions 6,7 and 8 cover PreAlgebra and Algebra 1 according to the publisher.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura en Educación desde Charleston Southern University
I have taught math for 22+ years and online for over 10 focusing on traditional and Singapore methods of math instruction. I tie together Singapore methods with traditional methods and teach in a very straightforward manner without a lot of frills. My goal is to ensure mastery of skills before moving on to new information. I enjoy fostering a love of learning and love for math in your student. I aim to build math confidence while ensuring that each student is given the opportunity to ask questions and participate.
