In Part I of this engaging year-long social studies course, students will explore major global events from the Age of Exploration to the end of the Industrial Era. Topics include the Age of Exploration, Colonization, Revolutions and Independence Movements, and the Industrial Revolution. The course is structured into units, with a mix of lectures, discussions, interactive activities, independent assignments, and assessments. I will teach using a combination of multimedia resources, including slides, video clips, primary source documents, and games to keep students actively involved and excited about learning. My teaching style emphasizes inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to ask questions, think critically, and make connections between historical events and the present day. Meeting twice weekly for an hour, students will have frequent opportunities to interact with me and their peers through both direct instruction from me, as well as group discussions, collaborative projects, and classroom debates. These interactions are designed to foster a supportive learning environment where all students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and perspectives. Additionally, I will provide targeted support and accommodations to ensure that all students can fully participate and succeed in the course. Weekly Themes for 7th Grade History - Part I These weekly themes provide a structured overview of the major historical events and concepts covered in the course, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. **This course will begin in August, and include a week off in October, and a week off at the end of November, and will end in December. This course provides differentiated instruction, including visual aids, interactive activities, and scaffolded assignments to meet diverse learning styles, as well as flexible assessment options, accommodations or modifications as needed.

We will discuss multiple time periods in history, as well as many events that resulted in change or harm to a population of people. All discussions and assignments are provided at an appropriate age level. Some information parents should be aware of include:
Age of Exploration and Colonization: European exploration, impact on indigenous peoples, colonial life, and economic systems. This time period in history included incredible changes that impacted the people who experienced them. We will discuss both innovations and the elements as factors in what took place during this time period.
Revolutions and Independence Movements: American, French, and Latin American revolutions, key figures, and outcomes. These events include loss of life, and hardships for the people who experienced them.
Industrial Revolution: Technological innovations, social and economic impacts, and global spread, as well as the impact those technological advancements had on people. We will discuss changes in technology, including industry, its impact on children, and technological advancements in warfare.
