Nivel Beginner
In this multi-day class, students will be introduced to integers through real world examples. Students will compare integers using a number line, and learn how to add, subtract, multiply and divide integers using a number line and other strategies. We will begin this course by watching a short video on integers on the first day. I will model how to solve problems involving integers (I do), students will then be given guided practice (we do), and finally, students will have the opportunity to practice solving problem independently with my assistance as needed (you do). During this time, I will check for understanding and provide immediate feedback. After the independent practice, I will reteach to clear any misconceptions to the class as needed. We will end each class with a fun Kahoot game. ⚠️Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session. No refunds or rescheduling are available for missed sessions. Hello! My name is Cindy Peralta. I hold a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in mathematics and a Master of Education. I have taught middle school math in a public school setting and have over 10 years of experience working with middle school and elementary students all together. I enjoy teaching math because math can be found everywhere, I help students make real world connections to deepen their understanding and have fun with the content.
I believe that all students can learn when they are given the proper tools. I differentiate my lessons to meet student’s different ways of learning by showing them multiple ways of solving math problems, meeting them where they are with their math skills, having different ways for students to participate and feel comfortable, and providing them with the proper tools to master math skills. I work hard to make my lessons engaging and fun, and my virtual class a welcoming and safe space for all.
When I'm not teaching, I'm enjoying time with family or gardening.
