Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Nivel Intermediate
Take your Morse Code skills to the next level and join this class every week! Students in this ongoing Morse Code class must have already taken my Class 1 & 2 Morse Code so that they have some experience with the alphabet and sending messages. Students must also be able to understand English.

Week of February 7th, 2022: Topic: Send A Clear Message With Proper Character Spacing

In this class, students will be focused on honing their Morse Code skills. This includes improving the clarity of the way the Morse Code is sent. The spacing between the letters in the words and the words themselves is critical to a clear message. A lot of this comes down to how much practice you have had. The best way to know if you are sending clear code is when someone else who does not know the message you are trying to send can successfully copy the message. Students will be able to send and copy one sentence in Morse Code.

Week of February 14th, 2022: Topic: Improve Your Listening Skills Copying A Real Radio Conversation At 5 Words Per Minute

In the second week, we will focus on listening to parts of a real conversation I had with another radio operator. This code is sent at around 5 words per minute. The recording will be repeated a few times to give everyone multiple chances to listen and copy down the conversation. Students will realize the importance of knowing the alphabet really well so that they are just listening for the letters and not trying to translate still in their minds.

Week of February 21st, 2022: Topic: Have A Mini Conversation With Other Learners Using Real Radio Language

During this class the topic will be all about the whole group creating a conversation together. All of the students will take turns going around and each sending a sentence that continues the story and conversation. This is a very challenging activity as it forces all of the students to listen super well to follow the story and message so that when it comes to their turn they are ready with a sentence that makes sense.

Week of February 28th, 2022: Topic: Practice Sending Properly Spaced Morse Code With Your Smartphone App

In the fourth week, we will all practice sending the Morse Code messages using the smartphone app. Students will take turns sending a short message and the other students will listen intently and try to copy the message. I will give each student specific feedback on the clarity of their message.

My teaching style is hands on. This means we learn by listening to code, writing and decoding the coded message, and then learning how to send a proper message through practice and feedback.

Learners will get to interact with me several structured times during the class and then as needed when they have questions.

This is an ongoing class so students can join any week.

The lesson topics repeat and cycle through so there will not be any updates on the new and upcoming classes.
