Have a curious student who loves science? Or maybe one who just isn’t interested yet? Our 5th grade science class is perfect for any and all learners. This course was designed to bring the excitement of science to life through interactive lessons and hands-on activities. My own experience as a teacher showed me that when students connect with the subject matter, their enthusiasm and understanding blossom. This semester-long course will help students build confidence and discover the joy of hands-on science learning! 🔥 SNAPSHOT OF STUDENT OUTCOMES: ✅Increase Critical Thinking Skills: By asking thoughtful questions and engaging in discussions, students will improve their analytical and problem-solving abilities. ✅Foster a Sense of Curiosity: Through captivating lessons and hands-on activities, students will develop a genuine interest in science and the natural world. ✅Build Confidence in Science: Interactive experiments and engaging lessons will help students gain confidence in their scientific knowledge and skills. ✅Discover Various Fields of Science: Students will explore physical, space, earth, life, and environmental science through fun and interactive activities. ✅Prepare for Future Learning: By understanding different fields of science, students will be better equipped to conduct research and explore various science careers. Each engaging lesson will encourage learner curiosity as they learn the basics of each of the science subjects. This course will cover physical, space, earth, life, and environmental science. Each lesson will feature an interactive activity or hands-on experiment that brings science alive! Be prepared for students to be talking about their experiments, activities, and questions all day long! This course is perfect for young scientists, as well as those that might just be starting their own science journey. This semester-long course will help students build confidence and discover the joy of hands-on science learning! This course encourages curiosity and students will be eager for more knowledge! Snapshot of Daily Activities: 🧪Daily Question: Just like real-life scientists, we start each day with a question to engage learners and encourage their own questions. 🧪Interactive Activities: Each lesson will feature an instructor-led experiment or activity. Expect students to get messy while they work on some of these experiments! 🧪Discussion and Results: We will then discuss our results and break down the topic, learning about the core knowledge behind each experiment. 🧪Wrap-Up: Each lesson ends with a discussion and presentation over the material to ensure each learner has mastered the essential concepts.

Explore the basics of forces, including gravity, friction, and magnetism. Students will design a maze using magnetic forces to control a paperclip through their maze.

Lección 4:
Simple Machines
Learn about the six types of simple machines (lever, wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, and screw) and how they make work easier. Students will analyze a Rube Goldberg Machine and correct any mistakes in it.

Week 1: Any interesting object (favorite stuffy, figurine, toy) Week 2: cornstarch, water, measuring cup, and medium bowl Week 3: strong magnet (can get a neodymium at hardware or hobby store), small weak magnetic item (paper clip), and thin piece cardboard (like a paper plate) Week 4: None - online activity Week 5: Balloon Week 6: small scrap of newspaper (non-glossy), old cake pan or shallow baking dish, magnifying glass, glass of water Week 7: string/yarn (10 meters long), beads of different colors or print out the Scale model, scissors, tape measure/ruler Week8: None Week 9: small ball (baseball is fine) and lamp/flashlight Week 10: Flashlight, thick dark paper, scissors, and something to punch holes in paper (like a pen) Week 11: copy paper and pencil Week 12: Plastic resealable bag, water, blue food dye (optional), permanent marker, and tape Week 13: Clear container (shoebox size or bigger), red food coloring ice cube made with blue food dye
