Fracciones y decimales de 3.er y 4.o grado

This class aligns with the Virginia SOL standards
3.2 The student will
a) name and write fractions and mixed numbers represented by a model; 
b) represent fractions and mixed numbers with models and symbols; and 
c) compare fractions having like and unlike denominators, using words and symbols (>, <, =, or ≠), with models

4.2  The student will 
a) compare and order fractions and mixed numbers, with and without models;
b) represent equivalent fractions; and 
c) identify the division statement that represents a fraction, with models and in context. 

4.3 The student will
a) read, write, represent, and identify decimals expressed through thousandths;
b) round decimals to the nearest whole number; 
c) compare and order decimals; and d) given a model, write the decimal and fraction equivalents. 

Class Structure:
- We will begin class with a math question 
- We will go over the lesson (usually in google slide form however games and activities will be embedded within)
- After the lesson students will have the opportunity to practice. We will have guided practice where we do some questions together and then independent questions that students will work on by themselves before going over them as a class. This may be in the form of worksheets or games. 
- Wrap up and log off. 

Interactions: 
Each student will get the opportunity to answer or ask questions throughout the class. 

No prior knowledge is required.

Day 1: Name/write fractions/mixed numbers 3/27
- Lesson on how to identify fractions
- Games/Worksheets/Practice 

Day 2: Represent fractions/mixed numbers using models 3/30
- Students will practice representing fractions and mixed umbers using models given
- Games/Worksheets/Practice 

Day 3: Compare Fractions with like and unlike denominators 4/3
- Compare fractions using <, >, =
- Games/worksheets/practice 

Day  4: Compare/Order fractions and mixed numbers 4/6
- Students will order fractions from smallest to largest and largest to smallest
- Games/worksheets/practice 

Day 5: Review 4/10
- Review all previous material 
- Games/worksheets/practice 

Day 6 & 7 : Read/write/identify decimals through the thousandths  4/13, 4/17
- Games/worksheets/practice 

Day 8: Rounding decimals 4/20
- Students will learn how to round decimals
- Games/worksheets/practice

Day 9: Compare/order decimals 4/24
- Games/worksheets/practice

Day 10: Write decimals and fractions that are equivalent.  4/27
