Students will get introduced to different robots and learn how to code using various online tools. Student should be able to read in order to follow puzzle instructions. If new to coding, I recommend an adult be present to assist in the beginning. I will monitor and help students with planning and solving coding puzzles as needed. Each week will be unique and theme like. Schedule (subject to change): ________________________________________________________________________ 1/17/24-Maze and Artist - a review of maze concepts using a combination of sequences and loops. 1/24/24- Artist and Bee Nested Loops - students will write programs that have looped statements inside another loop. 1/31/24-Bee Loops and Bee Debugging - students will code farmer to shovel dirt into holes until they are full and remove until they are gone. Students will encounter puzzles that have errors. They will need to identify errors and correct code. 2/7/24 - Artist Loops and Artist Debugging - Students will encounter puzzles that have errors and try to solve them. 2/14/24 - Artist and Bee Functions - students will use and modify functions to fit different purposes. 2/21/24 - Artist and Play Lab using Variables - students will explore the creation of repetitive designs using variables. Students will also use variables in play lab. 3/13/24 - Bee and Artist For Loops - Students will write programs that use loops with counters/index variables. 3/20/24 - Artist Functions/Artist Functions with Parameters - students will draw complicated images using functions for repeated tasks. 3/27/24-Play Lab: Functions with Parameters/Bee: Functions with Parameters - students will use functions and parameters, students will also have the opportunity to use the skill in the creation of Play Lab games. 4/3/24 - Artist Binary/Super Challenge - Variables - students will build binary images, translating 0s and 1s to offs and ons (black and white) 4/10/24-Star Wars: Building a Galaxy (JavaScript) - students will use JavaScript to build a Star Wars game. 4/10/24-Intro to App Lab - students will get introduced to creating an app using control buttons, test, images, sounds, and screens using JavaScript. Students will learn how to code using the following site: Code.org. Teacher will provide classroom code. Students will need a laptop, Chromebook or computer for coding.

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
I love to teach Reading, Math, Spanish, Technology and STEM (including robotics). I love spending time with family, teaching, and running. A little fun fact about me...I run marathons for fun! I can't wait to see you in class.
