Grado de EE. UU. 2
This class is designed to be a book discussion. This is not a learn to read class. Each week we will read and discuss a new book through discussion questions and short videos posted in our Outschool classroom. The books that have been selected are from a variety of different second-grade level books and have been favorites of my students over the past few years or come highly recommended. Students enrolling in this class should be able to read at a typical beginning of the year second grade level or have support at home to help them to read the books. It would be best if students read independently, however, this may not be possible for all students, and comprehension of a story is also an important reading skill. Each week the books do become progressively more difficult. The final books are longer and more difficult. Each Week Students Will: Read a new book. Respond to at least two discussion board questions that are posted. Students will comment on at least one other students opinion or idea. ** Please note that typing at this age can be difficult so students are encouraged to use the video recording to record their thoughts and opinions. Participate in an optional Kahoot. This class is designed for typical beginning of the year second grade book discussions. Students will share things such as their favorite part or character. During the final week of this class students will select their favorite character that they have read about. They will create a project showcasing their understanding of this character and his/her importance in the book they read. *** Express version of this course is now available please check the dates to see which you are enrolling in*** Week of: Week 1- Yasmin The Explorer Week 2 - Katie Woo Gets the Flu Week 3 - Pedro's Mystery Club Week 4 - Zelda and Ivy Week 5- Mercy Watson to the Rescue Week 6 - Adventures of Tabby Towers Week 7 - Five Fouls and Your Out Week 8 - Alvin Ho Week 9 - Clementine Week 10- Juana & Lucas Week 11- Dory Fanstasmagory Many of these books may be available at your local library or you can find them all on Amazon.

Hello!
My name is Jamie Nelsen, I am currently a reading coach and interventionist at an International School. I have taught students from pre-k (age 4) to 5th grade full time in the classroom, as a homeroom teacher. I am my 9th year of full time teaching, and I have also worked as a substitute teacher in Orlando Florida for 2 years. The past 9 years I have been working in international schools around the world, I have experience with both the Common Core and the British National Curriculum.
I love traveling the world and teaching internationally allows me to do this. I work with students to develop their independence and ability to learn skills by thinking through problems instead of asking for help. I believe that every child needs to be given the skills that they need to be successful, which include learning how to learn so that they can discover their own interests and learn more about it in a powerful, meaningful way, that will encourage lifelong learning!
I recently finished my Master's degree in Educational Technology and I am passionate about technology integration into learning!
