Is Tesla losing ground to other EV companies? Is Microsoft or Google winning the AI race? Will McDonald's new restaurant "Cosmc's" be a success or a flop? Which streaming entertainment company, Disney+ or Netflix, is growing fastest? Each week we will review the major headlines and discuss how the latest news will affect the stock prices of companies you know and care about. Students who like to share their opinions in a friendly, open discussion format or listen to others, will really enjoy this format. Students will use a stock market simulation game to invest in real stocks based on our discussions and so we can see if/ how the news affect their stock prices!

This ongoing group makes current events engaging and fun! It is great for any student who is interested in trending news about companies as well as the economy (inflation, unemployment, etc.) It is a great follow up to any of my other stock market classes (beginner, Level 2 OR Level 3). It will keep learners engaged and actively investing in the stock market via a simulation game . If you are interested in stock market investing, you will LOVE this class. Fun, interactive, and relevant to what's happening in tech, entertainment, social media, retail, and more. Students will use an engaging and realistic online trading simulation platform to test out their stock market predictions.

Articles and video clips of news reports and stock analysts' opinions will be used to to summarize and explain the headlines.
Students will be encouraged to bring current event topics they would like to discuss to class. Students will use an easy and realistic online trading simulation platform to test out their analysis and stock market predictions.

Each week we will explore the latest headlines - positive and negative company specific news, economic events, covid19, inflation, summer travel, etc.
Positive news will normally cause investors to buy stocks. Examples include a good earnings reports, an announcement of a new product, a corporate acquisition, and positive economic events like falling unemployment all translate into increased stock buying and an increase in stock prices.

Negative news, like a defective product recall or a lawsuit against a company, that may cause investors to worry and sell their stock, resulting in the stock priced going down.

And sometimes, Bad News Is Good News! What??? Bad news for some companies is good news for others. For example, news that a hurricane has made landfall may cause the stocks of power companies to take a hit in anticipation of costly emergency responses and repairs. But stocks of building supply companies may go up for the same reason.

This course will help students engage with the world around them and help them make sense of current events.

Club Prerequisite: NOT required but it is helpful if students have taken my beginner stock market investment course/simulation OR have some prior experience with stock market investing.
