Who is This Class For?
This class is appropriate for young, hesitant writers that need extra support and encouragement in creative writing, as well as for exuberant authors wanting to take their writing to the next level. With 1:1 classes, tailored to their individual needs, your student will have successful writing experiences, and have purpose for writing. Unleash the author inside your young writer and watch them grow. 

My Teaching Style:
I am an engaging, encouraging, and enthusiastic teacher that creates a positive and comfortable environment for students to thrive in. I encourage students to express their ideas both verbally and in written form. A strive to achieve a positive and supportive rapport with each of my learners. I want students feeling empowered and confident to succeed, and learn to love writing.

My Teaching Method:
I share my original slide shows in the classroom with students to reach a variety of learning styles, and help students stay on track with exactly what we are doing. I teach, model, and scaffold proper skills and techniques with an “I do, we do, you do” approach. We do writing activities and exercises together both on the screen, and with the use of worksheets as needed. Students have supported, independent writing time in their own journals to apply and practice skills we are working on, and receive feedback for encouragement and reinforcement of the skills being covered. I want students excited about what they are doing.

 
How Tutoring Works:
In this ongoing, twice a week class, students will receive 1:1 private tutoring in writing and language arts skills based upon their needs.

 Parents will communicate the desired focus for our time together, and the ability level of their child, allowing me to meet the students right where they are at, and support them in their creative writing journeys. Classes will be structured around the needs, skills, and goals of each individual student with support, encouragement, and engaging experiences. 

The goal of this class is to help students grow in both ability and confidence, and enjoy the process of writing. Writing is one of the most important tools your student will take with them throughout their lives. A lack of confidence in writing can create reluctance for young writers, and create a serious road block to creative writing. Developing strong writing skills will go a long way to helping your student succeed in many areas of their lives. Not only do I want your student to acquire new skills and techniques, but I also want them to find their own writing voice or style, increase their confidence, and learn to love writing, or at least appreciate it. Once your student has had a few positive experiences with successful writing opportunities, their confidence will skyrocket, and their writing resistance will melt away.
