This one-on-one tutoring class is aimed at early reading development as well as addressing dyslexia challenges. Grounded in the principles of the Science of Reading, I utilize a structured literacy (Orton Gillingham) approach to deliver targeted instruction in reading and spelling. This class is perfect for beginning readers as well as struggling readers. I aim to make my classes fun and interactive and personalize each class to your learner’s specific needs and personality.

Core Components:

Structured Literacy Curriculum
Rooted in the Science of Reading, this class employs the structured literacy approach, which is grounded in extensive research on effective reading instruction. I use a systematic and explicit method of teaching literacy skills, including phonics, decoding, encoding, and comprehension strategies. This approach breaks down language concepts into manageable parts, providing students with a clear and logical progression of skills. 

Reading Intervention 
Research has consistently shown that structured literacy instruction (aka Orton Gillingham) benefits students with diverse learning needs, including those with dyslexia, by providing them with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for reading success.

Multisensory Learning Techniques
Utilizing multisensory strategies, students engage with language concepts through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities, promoting deeper comprehension and retention.

Home Practice
Families are encouraged to complete guided practice activities with their learners at least 2-3 additional days per week. Consistent practice helps reinforce learning and build confidence in reading and spelling abilities, allowing learners to get the most benefit from our classes.

Progress Monitoring 
Monthly assessments will be conducted to measure students' growth and identify areas for additional support. Regular feedback and communication with parents ensure alignment between instruction and home practice.
