In this private 1on1 business class, students will learn the basics of drawing and editing photos with Photoshop. 📢 This class is for any still skill level. No previous knowledge of Photoshop is required. Opening Photoshop for the first time can be scary with over 5,000 different options/buttons. Photoshop can feel like a very foreign place to any newcomer. With this friendly Photoshop introduction, it can be incredibly exciting experience for students. If you love to draw, edit photos, or create goofy photo-collage scenes, and you love the Photoshop app., I'll teach you how to edit your photos, add special effects, draw fun art scenes, and utilize Photoshops amazing tools to create fun art and photos that you've been dreaming of. These class sessions are very student focused, so much of the lessons, discussions, and activities will be geared towards their skillset. Or whatever the parents request that they learn. 💡 If Photoshop is installed on the same computer as Zoom, it would be easier for students to show what they are doing, if they need help. They could also be able to show their classmates what they created. ITINERARY: What the students would be doing during each club meeting... (These 1:1 class sessions will be learner-directed, so the direction will this class goes varies depending on the student.) Week 1: How to Start a Photoshop Project (For students who never used Photoshop before) ✔ The first week will start with about 5 minutes of introductions for with the new student in the class. ✔ Students are instructed on how to start a Photoshop project. ✔ Students are introduced to the different tools on Photoshop. * If the student shares their screen while using Photoshop, the instructor can give assistance with annotation. * Here are some of the Photoshop tools this project would introduce: Layer Introduction, Brush Tools, Paint Bucket Tool, Eraser Tool, Bucket Tool, etc. * If there is extra time, student will be introduced to the gradient tool to create an interesting background! Week 2: Working with Photoshop's Layers ✔ Students are introduced to "layers". * The learning objective of this project is to enable students to understand the concept of layers. They learn to understand this visually by creating a face (or it could be a plate of food). After demonstrating how to make layers students can then create additional layers independently. Week 3: Editing Photos The learner will be given old photos to edit (or they can open up their own). They will practice fixing up a photo and playing around with Color Enhancements/Adjustments. These Photoshop concepts are introduced in this project: Clone Tool, Patch Tool, Healing Brush Tools, Content Aware Move Tool, Blur/Sharpen Tools Other weeks... As these 1:1 class sessions are learner-directs, there are other possible Photoshop themed ideas that will be done in these classes with the student: ✔ Making Goofy Photo Scenes. (Example: Taking a cat's head and put it on a person's body. Then add sunglass and a hat!) ✔ Learning how to do Rotoscoping and turning video frames into animated cartoons. Or add special effects. This is a LIVE class and is NOT pre-recorded. This class will be presented via cameras from the instructor. Students can interact with the instructor, as well ask questions during instruction. No writing or independent reading is necessary. Students are expected to communicate with the teacher. Communication, visuals, and hands-on instruction are all the things that are important in helping the students get a better understanding of the subject.

Materials Needed: ✔️ Computer (Windows Preferred, but Macintosh would also work. Photoshop doesn't work on Chromebook.) ✔️ Photoshop (Any Photoshop CC version... or even the older CS versions will work fine.) 💡 If you have a good internet connection you can use the free Photopea software, which is a clone of Photoshop. It looks just like Photoshop and has most of the tools, including newer features like "Puppet Warp" and healing brush tools. It also works great on the Chromebook. You can find it here: https://www.photopea.com/

I often use Photoshop for many of my book and animation projects... I am a professional cartoonist, writer, and comic book publisher. I have published comic books, comic strips, children's books, and graphic novels throughout the world. I print around 2000 to 4000 comic books per issue released. I use various printers in Canada, South Korea, and Hong Kong for my printing.
My published comic series include "Jonathin Quackup of the Planet", "Miced" and "Cartoon Avenue".
I have also taken classes Photoshop and Digital Art in college .
I am also a credentialed teacher. I have taught cartooning classes for 20 years and Comic Book related class for over 10 years. I have taught these classes for both adults and children in colleges, schools, and community centers. I have helped many children and adults get their comics created and published.
